Keeping On and Sale

What are your heartbreak losses?

In the past days, I have had friends tell me of heartbreaking losses in their lives. One experienced the death of a precious cat, another told of having lost her wedding photos in a flood, and yet another family I know lost a barn and contents to a fire. Many of us at this moment have lost jobs and income, loved ones, abilities, plans and dreams. There is scarcely a day that goes by that we don’t have some sort of loss.

Here’s is what struck me: Loss is continual and inevitable as we go through life, and yet, we humans keep on keeping on. We humans are a miracle with that.

When I had that thought this morning, I smiled. And when I’ve just now put it into words, I think I’ve sat up a little taller, and some irritation I’ve had at a person faded away in the light of this awareness. Everyone–each one of us–is a darn amazing miracle.

The other day someone asked me if I was working on a new book. I rolled my eyes and said, “Yes, the never-ending book that I keep editing.”

Yes, friends, THE BOOK, is still in progress. The change I deemed necessary was points-of-view. I did not think it would be that hard or take much time. I was so wrong. Yet, I am also finding that I’m tightening the focus of a story that tends to wander even more than my usual wandering. This heavy editing is necessary, and as I told my friend, “It keeps me busy.” There–in the face of loss of time, dreams, and plans–I’m a miracle who keeps on keeping on.

In case you missed my mailing last week, I have four titles on sale. Grab them soon. Sale ends April 18. All major online retailers.

Let me say that no book I ever wrote was easy to write. Each one is a miracle.

Blessings,

  1. You are an amazing author! Your books draw me in and make me feel like I’m right there in the book! At this time I’m rereading for the 4th or 5th time the Valentine books! How I love them and how I pray the book you were reading is one more in that series. God bless you!
