Book Recommendation–Sisters, by Kellie Coates Gilbert

Sisters, by Kellie Coates Gilbert. This is the first of Gilbert’s Sun Valley series. The description for Sisters says: “Set in America’s original ski resort, Sun Valley, Idaho—SISTERS offers a thought-provoking look at three women . . . and the choices they make when they realize their lives aren’t exactly what they expected.

That sentence intrigued me, because I’ve learned that life rarely turns out as expected. I think one of the major lessons in life is that there is going to be a lot of disappointment, and we have to learn to deal with it. What I like about the book is Gilbert gives us characters who face this challenge with strength and grace and grit.

The story opens with Karyn, and she is the driving force of the story. Her sisters are Joie and Leigh Ann. Each woman is unique and distinct from the other, and each with their disappointments and desires. I also enjoyed the bits of wisdom Gilbert scatters through the story. The writing is smooth, seems to carry the reader on effortlessly, and the characters are clearly drawn. There is about each women something every woman can relate to. Gilbert know writing and she knows her subject: family and the area of Sun Valley Idaho.

If you enjoy Hallmark movies, you’ll enjoy this book. You can find out more about the book and about Kellie Coates Gilbert at her website.

Full disclosure: Yes, I know Kellie, but I receive no compensation, am not even asked to make this recommendation. What I like about doing recommendations is I only post about books I like.

Happy reading!
