Whoo-hoo! Monday!

One day I woke up and realized I loved Mondays. I think it may be because I usually do next to nothing on Sundays, save watch old TCM comedies and take long naps, go to bed early, and wake up being happy to get back into a routine on Monday. I also take Mondays pretty easy, not expecting much from myself or the day, determining to let Monday be Monday, as it will.

This morning I was up extra early in order to get in the necessary quiet, prayer, journal, thinking, solitary-cup-of-tea time, before the arrival of granddaughter, which should be any minute. If I don’t get this time, I am one grumpy Nana.

Mondays are so full of promise, and one tends to think: “This week I’m going to…” My aim this week is to encourage myself back into the habit of carrying around a spiral notebook and jotting down thoughts. I used to do that when I was writing under contract all those years. I loved doing it–loved going back and reading many wonderful things that go jotted down. With our big move in 2009, I got out of the habit.

My notebook is journal size, with large wire spirals where I can stick a pen, and hard covers. I choose a pleasing image on the cover, but then I never see it because I turn the covers back on themselves to have a firm writing surface and paper always available. (Still, the pleasing cover is vital because I enjoy thinking of it.)

Note to self: at the very least, carry a pen. One can usually find paper, or write on your hand.

I share with you a prayer that came out while I was journaling this morning…light and strength for the path~

Gracious God, today I let go of wasting time, let go of procrastination and blocking my own path. I choose to move forward in joy, happily doing those things that are mine to do. Thank You for my abundant life! Amen.

Whoops–I hear son and granddaughter arriving. The day starts~ I get practice in writing fast and free!

Have a great week!

  1. I fell the same way you do about Mondays for the most part. Sundays can be very quiet and relaxing and I feel like I am back to my own routine on Mondays, and a fresh start with a new week in front of me.

How is everything in your world? It has been as long time since I have heard from you and I was delighted! I believe you were working on a new book…

Take care and have a fantastic week!

  2. Hi CurtissAnn,

Thank you so much for taking time to visit my blog–it’s nice to meet you! I agree with you that Mondays are full of promise, as are new years. And I, too, make lists because heaven knows at this point in my life if I don’t, well, let’s just say that nothing will get accomplished. LOL

    Blessings to you!
