On the Road Again 🎶🎶

This post is late this week, because I’m traveling with the camper and the dog. When Wednesday came, I was staying at a National Park in the Smoky Mountains, with no Internet connection. Even the Internet connection in my truck had trouble. It was an interesting and educational experience, being without electric hook up, or ready Internet, or water flowing from a hose.

Oh, the sights I have seen!

My thoughts have been about living life, very little about writing, or stories, until, of course, I found an old church and graveyard in Brevard, NC.

The maintenance of the old church obviously dwindles. My mind started a story where someone comes to revive it.

Both gravemarkers bear the emblem of the Confederate States of America, NC INF. Private Tinsley, on the right, lived through the Civil War. When enlarging the picture on the left, I can just make out that the person died in 1863, which would’ve been the first year of the war. I would’ve liked to clean the marker, I have my supplies, but there was no one to ask for permission.

As I write this, I think maybe I never stop writing. A writer writes. I pray for more discipline with my writing. We write because it is what we are made to do.

Grace and peace,

CurtissAnn.

  1. Sounds like that is the start of a great historical romance! The smokies are a great place to enjoy a good book so I imagine they are a great place to write one as well!
We love the mountains! We usually go every November but will miss it this year bc my husband was in a car accident a few months back. Hopefully we will make it back next year! My daughter met you a while back, she is friends with your grandson! She said you are too sweet! 😊Happy Travels!

  2. The pictures you have posted are beautiful. The tombstones send my mind in overdrive. Of all things the tombstones make me want to know the stories behind the stones and the lives that were led. I love to explore the old cemeteries and learn about the towns that have died. Oklahoma has so many towns that are gone, but still have their cemeteries.
